Zamseed ZMS 608 is a medium- to late-maturing hybrid maize variety bred by Zambia Seed Company (Zamseed) for high productivity and adaptability across diverse growing conditions. It matures in about 130–140 days and produces large, uniform cobs with flint-to-semi-flint grains, ideal for both household consumption and milling.
ZMS 608 demonstrates excellent field performance, showing good drought tolerance, resistance to major maize diseases such as grey leaf spot, leaf blight, and rust, and strong stalk strength that ensures good standability and minimal lodging. It responds very well to fertile soils and good agronomic management, making it a dependable hybrid for farmers aiming for high yield and grain quality.
Under favorable conditions, ZMS 608 can yield between 8–11 tons per hectare. Its balance between yield potential, adaptability, and resilience makes it one of Zamseed’s most popular and reliable hybrids for medium-altitude and high rainfall farming regions in Zambia.
